Family of Origins Work
Recovery from Childhood Losses, Traumatic Experiences, Wounded Parents, and Unmet Needs
Translated writings of ACADF (Adult Children of Alcoholics + Dysfunctional Families)
This is a series of translated texts and key concepts from the 12-Step program for resolving childhood trauma, or other adverse childhood experiences. These translations offer a non-judgemental reframe of the original program writings, replacing the language of “sick” parents with “wounded” parents who may not have been able to meet our needs as children.
These writings and the community of the ACADF program seek to recover from any experience(s) or event(s) that have otherwise interrupted normal, healthy development of personal and social identity, life and relationship patterns. The program’s definition of an Adult Child is someone who, when challenged, tends to regress to an unhealed childhood state.
Other Foundational Influences
Systemic Family Constellations
by Bert Hellinger
“The constellation process reveals the influence of generational histories in ways that our Western-trained minds find challenging to access. It promotes visibility and consciousness of our shared humanity, including our tendencies to be constricted by unhealed loss and trauma experienced by our ancestors.” ~ Lisa Iversen, Family Constellations West
The Arrivals Legacy Project

For descendants of mixed and minoritised races, the ALP offers many their first experiences of Belonging and Cultural Identity.
