What is Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy?

Writings by Diane Zimberoff, MA, LMFT,
compiled and arranged by Jude Wong, MPCC, HCH

Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy has been extensively and successfully used to treat a wide variety of presenting problems for the past 40 years, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ptsd, substance and behavioural addictions, sleep disorders, chronic physical conditions, personal and spiritual identity, marriage, family, and relationship issues. Therapists all over the USA and in many other countries including South Africa, Taiwan, Kuwait, Turkey, Denmark, Canada, Mexico, and more, have found HCH to be extremely universal.

Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy is built on a strong humanistic and transpersonal psychology foundation. Diane Zimberoff studied with Fritz Perls, Eric Berne, and Virginia Satir. Then 30 years ago, she weaved the hypnosis component into her original therapeutic process that incorporated Gestalt therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA), transpersonal psychology, Reichian body armoring, and a family systems perspective.

Diane also spent several years in the 1970s studying in India with yoga and meditation Masters. The dynamic results are a gentle blending of the most powerful hypnotherapy regression techniques with quiet meditations. Both client and practitioner benefit from every session. Diane welcomes people of all faiths, religions and spiritual backgrounds. And for those who are searching for their own belief system, Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy may become their own delightful path of self-discovery.

The subconscious contains 90 percent of the mind’s capacity, and within that 90 percent is the deeply held key that unlocks the client’s own internal healing mechanism. It is through accessing this deeply personal guidance, held within each human being, that Heart-Centred Hypnotherapy excels. In other words, we have learned over the 35 years of developing this professional hypnotherapy method that it is not the therapist, but the subconscious mind of the client which guides the sessions.

Each pathway to resolution is unique, with its own authentic launguage, timing, rhythm, purpose, and symbols.  Some people heal through regression to key points in early childhood, release of trapped emotions which have become toxic and stuck, and the re-wiring of early conclusions and deeply held beliefs. HCH also includes extensive documentation and evidence-based research on the stages of birth, from pre-conception through to early infancy, the conclusions and patterns that are most commonly formed based on the events at each stage.

Some people experience past-life regression in this work, and the Interlife, or the time between lives and incarnations. Some discover the emotional roots of chronic physical conditions; some gain a wider, more compassionate view of themselves and others, and some find a lived, real sense of spiritual connection through this process.

Our first task as Heart-Centred Hypnotherapy clinicians is to listen for the language of each person’s subconscious mind. In talk therapy or counselling sessions we have spent years communicating with the conscious mind of our clients. Speaking with the conscious mind, we can offer behavioural solutions, insight, empathy and positive affirmations. We can aid in the understanding of difficulties, but this often does not produce long lasting changes.

Our therapists wait, proceed slowly and allow the client’s subconscious mind to determine where the deepest healing needs to take place. We have learned to proceed slowly and to listen carefully to the revelations of the deeper mind, body and spirit of our clients.

Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy, through the professional who implements it, touches the deepest humanity, the heart and soul of each client to bring profound healing in each and every session. Thus, the overall length of treatment is shortened and the healing is profound and noticeable.
